Here kitty kitty - our cats who came out to play in first annual The Battle on the Bay last weekend.
The Chili Cook-off was delicious
There were 9 teams that competed in the 1st Annual Chili Cook-off. After sampling the offerings, each eater voted for their favorite chili. When the votes were counted, there was a 3 way tie for 2nd place. The committee awarded all of the winners with beautifully handmade chili bowls.
First Place: Richard Kimbrell and Nancy Gardner
Second Place: Laurie Knight, Steve Young and Teresa Sides, and Jes Gearing
Third Place: Kenny Kleinschrodt
Thank you to Jes Gearing and Tonia Camardella for their work on the Chili Cook-off. I know they had lots of help, thank you to these unknown helpers.
A Funny…
Two wooden boats, both with tall wooden masts, one of birch and the other of beech, are moored next to each other. A smaller boat tucks in and anchors between them, and the beech mast says to the birch mast, "Is that new little mast a son of a beech or a son of a birch?"
The birch mast says he cannot tell, but just then a woodpecker lands on the little boat.
The birch mast says, "Woodpecker, you're a wooden mast expert. Can you tell if that is a son of a beech or a son of a birch?"
The woodpecker takes a taste of the small boat's mast and replies, "It is neither a son of a beech nor a son of a birch. It is, however, the best piece of ash I have ever poked my pecker into."
